National Stroke Week is the basis for continuing public education about stroke awareness and prevention in the community.
In 2008 the National Stroke Foundation encouraged all Australians to know the warning signs of stroke - facial weakness, arm weakness, speech difficulties - FAST test. Recognising any of these signs and calling 000 immediately can be the difference between death or severe disability and making a good recovery. We set the challenge to distribute at least 1.3 million FAST wallet cards to Australians over 40. Thank you to the many organisations and MPs who have helped us strive towards this goal.
