National Stroke Week is the basis for continuing public education about stroke awareness and prevention in the community.  In 2009 we will launch a new FAST campaign to help people recognise the early warning signs of stroke.  Details of the new campaign will be revealed soon.

The FAST test involves asking three simple questions:

• Face – Check their face.  Has their mouth drooped?
• Arms – Can they lift both arms?
• Speech – Is their speech slurred?  Do they understand you?
• Time – Time is critical.  If you see any of these signs, call 000 now!

The National Stroke Foundation is calling all community groups, workplaces, health professionals, stroke survivors and carers to get involved in National Stroke Week 2009.
