Help out with some much needed research

My name is Claire Layfield, I am a speech pathologist who has been working with people with dysphagia since 2004. While working, I often wondered if there was more I could offer for people with swallowing difficulties. These wonderings are now official and I have started my PhD investigating the benefits of two different intensive treatments for dysphagia.

These treatments aim to rehabilitate swallow function by exercising and stimulating the weak muscles. By targeting the underlying impairment, it is hoped that swallowing function will improve allowing people to enjoy more variety in their diets.

We are looking people aged 18-80 who have swallowing difficulties following a stroke. There are no costs involved in participating in the study.

If you would like more information please feel free to contact me by calling (02) 9351-9622 or 0412 546 598 or via email claire.layfield@sydney.edu.au
