Code of Conduct

We want to ensure StrokeConnect is a vibrant, supportive place for all members. One way to ensure this is to outline a set of standards describing the behaviour we expect of all members. This Code of Conduct is our way of helping all members work together to sustain a great online community.

We ask that all members are respectful and consider other's needs. This includes using appropriate standards of language and making posts readable and understandable to all users.

Members of StrokeConnect must not:

  • make any potentially insulting comments on the site eg racial or sexual comments
  • endorse or promote illegal or harmful activities eg drugs, alcohol, violence
  • post obscene or pornographic material
  • make aggressive or personal attacks
  • use offensive language
  • use message flooding, tolling and flaming (refer to definitions below)
  • post all in capital letters as this is considered the equivalent of shouting.

StrokeConnect content must comply with existing laws, widely adopted advertising policies, privacy requirements and other policies, restrictions and guidelines approved by the NSF. Content must not include material that is copyrighted or prohibited for use by the general public.

Members of StrokeConnect will be given the opportunity to report other members they see breaking these rules by discussing the circumstance with the moderator and completing the online feedback form. The moderator will edit or delete any posts that are deemed inappropriate or that do not comply with these guidelines. In such circumstances, the member will be notified directly by the moderator.

Definitions

  • Message flooding- Message flooding is making sure your opinion is heard by repeatedly posting the same message
  • Trolling- Trolling is posting a comment whose sole intent is to incite controversy or comment
  • Flaming- Flaming is expressing a strongly held opinion to the point where it dominates the conversation and destroys the tone and camaraderie of the group
