It was a celebratory evening of fun, fine wine, fundraising and fabulously uplifting art. The evenings fundraising efforsts reached over $20,000 for the National Stroke Foundation.  Thank you to all who were involved in making this night a success.

The Minister for Health the Hon. John Della Bosca and Sandra Sully officially  opened the Stroke of Art exhibition on behalf of the National Stroke Foundation at NSW Parliament House on Wednesday 5th August.
The Stroke of Art exhibition is about the journey of recovery and features the work of Australian artists and stroke survivors Judi Halliday, Nick Safstrom and one of the nation’s leading painters and sculptors, Robert Juniper.
The artworks were supported by hundreds of postcards with messages of faith, hope and courage from Australians touched by stroke.  Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, NSW Premier Nathan Rees, Sandra Sully, Masterchef judge Gary Mehigan and actress Michala Banas all contributed personal messages, as did tennis great John Newcombe who survived a stroke five years ago.
The Stroke of Art exhibition is running in Fountain Court at Parliament House NSW until 28 August.

A special thank you goes out to the following people and groups for their tremendous support of Stroke of Art 2009: Judi Halliday, Nick Safstrom, Robert Juniper, Veolia Environmental Services, The ArtHouse Hotel, Parliament House NSW, Andy Madigan, Carla Florist, Gai Waterhouse Stables, David Jones, Taronga Zoo, Orso Bayside Restaurant, Captain Cook Cruises, C-Mac Sheetmetal

Stroke of Art: history
The first Stroke of Art exhibition was held at the NSW Parliament House in 2003. The Stroke of Art exhibition is an evocative and inspirational expression of the journey of recovery which showcases artworks and poetry from Australian stroke survivors.

The Stroke of Art exhibition is testimony to the hope and transformation that stroke survivors face after stroke. We have received positive feedback from those who have seen past exhibitions, especially stroke survivors who were inspired by the artwork displayed.
