The latest Quit campaign, launched on 31 May 2007 in Victoria, aims to educate smokers on how smoking can lead to stroke. The 'Carotid' advertisement graphically explains how smoking can lead to a stroke, and aims to motivate and remind smokers to quit.
Increasing public awareness around smoking as a major risk factor for stroke is vital, people who smoke are about twice as likely to have a stroke than someone who has never smoked, yet fewer than one in ten smokers are able to identify smoking as a cause of stroke. |
