Stroke survivors tell us that stroke support groups form a vital part of their recovery after stroke. There are hundreds of stroke support groups across the country providing valuable face-to-face peer support to stroke survivors and their carers. Stroke support groups are made up of stroke survivors and their families and/or carers with common interests and needs. For information regarding Stroke Support Groups in your local area, please call your local State Stroke Association. Increased Support to Groups (stroke support groups)
The National Stroke Foundation (NSF) recognises that stroke support groups play a vital role in helping stroke survivors move forward with their lives. Because of this, we’re offering support to strengthen already existing groups in the community and assist survivors in the process of establishing new groups.
By registering with the NSF as a Stroke Support Group, you will be sent a copy of our Stroke Support Group Toolkit. This valuable resource contains information about attracting members to your group, getting the most out of your group (including suggestions for group activities), and structuring the financial and legal requirements of a Stroke Support Group.
