Stroke survivors tell us that stroke support groups form a vital part of their recovery after stroke.

In 2006, the National Stroke Foundation and many of the State Stroke Associations undertook a survey of stroke support group leaders around the country. This report provided invaluable insight into the needs of stroke support groups in Australia.

In response to the survey feedback, the National Stroke Foundation ran a pilot program known as Friends of the National Stroke Foundation in 2007. The pilot program was deemed a success amongst stroke support groups and is now run as a permanent program.  View a copy of the Pilot Program Report.

The program is open to all Stroke Support Groups of any age, at no costt. Once you become a member, you can apply for a community grant up to $200, now available to members of the Friends of NSF program. This grant will help you run your commununity activity during National Stroke Week 14 - 20 September.

As a member you will also enjoy many other benefits.  Find out the benefits of joining Friends of NSF.
