The David Brownbill Society is a society formed to recognise those supporters who have left a bequest to the National Stroke Foundation.

All too often, the first we hear about a bequest is after a donor has passed away. The Society allows us to celebrate the generosity of our most important benefactors when they are still with us, whilst encouraging others to consider this form of support.

About David Brownbill AM

David Brownbill
At just 37 David Brownbill AM became head of Neurosurgery at Royal Melbourne Hospital. David knew then that research in neurosciences in Australia was lagging behind other areas of medical research.

Determined to change this, he persuaded Sir John Holland AC of the need and 25 years ago they founded what today is the National Stroke Foundation.

As David was the spark behind the National Stroke Foundation the bequest society has been named after him. In doing this, we honor his enthusiasm and contribution to the health of present and future generations of Australians.
