The 21st Stroke Society of Australasia will be held in Melbourne, Australia, on 1-3 September 2010 at the Sofitel. Our keynote speakers are Professor George Howard, Professor Marie-Germaine Bousser, and Associate Professor Nicol Korner-Bitensky. Professor George Howard will share his vast experience in large trials and epidemiology, including the groundbreaking REGARDS study of increased stroke deaths in the south-eastern ‘stroke belt’ states of the US. Professor Marie-Germaine Bousser will draw on her expertise across acute stroke treatments, secondary prevention with anticoagulants, risk reduction in patients with and without diabetes, diffusion-weighted imaging in cerebral venous thrombosis, migraine and vascular dementia. Associate Professor Nicol Korner-Bitensky will share her experience in developing clinical networks and enhancing health service delivery.

The conference will feature dedicated sessions and workshops on

  • small vessel disease
  • stroke in indigenous and disadvantaged populations
  • palliative care
  • neurointervention
  • rehabilitation, and
  • stroke in developing countries.
