The strokesafe™ Community Education Program aims to provide a comprehensive and informative education program that improves community knowledge about stroke and stroke prevention. Our aims for 2009 National We are currently developing a Health Professional Network whereby health professionals in various states register their contact details to deliver strokesafe™ seminars to community groups, on behalf of the National Stroke Foundation. Seminars will cover information about what a stroke is, the signs of stroke, risk factors and stroke prevention. Victoria We are currently recruiting volunteers to become strokesafe™ Ambassadors in a pilot program in Melbourne and surrounding suburbs. Our Ambassadors will be trained to conduct talks their local community that will teach crucial knowledge on understanding the signs of stroke and how to prevent a stroke. Western Australia and Tasmania The National Stroke Foundation will be holding community seminars in both Western Australia and Tasmania. These seminars are targeted to the general community and will cover information about all aspects of stroke (prevention, impact, recovery and local services).
