Calling on all health professionals…

November 25th, 2009

If you work as a health professional, we would like to know if you use social media (Facebook, Twitter and Blogs) for professional reasons.

If you do, what do you use it for? Do you use it to obtain advice or confirmation, to discuss something with other HP’s or to gain access to different types of resources etc?

Please post your comments and feedback below.

FAST catches the headlines

September 21st, 2009

Here at the NSF we are so thrilled that the FAST message is getting out there. After all the hard work spreading the FAST message during National Stroke Week last week, it is heart warming to hear the stories of people who have had better recovery outcomes after their strokes because they recognised the signs and acted FAST.

Our tea room walls are now full of articles about FAST that appeared in papers across the country for National Stroke Week. Each individual story acts as a reminder for why we do the work we do; to stop stroke, save lives and end suffering.

Knowing the signs of stroke empowers you to save the life of someone having a stroke. Click here to forward the FAST wallet card to friends.

Volunteers Needed!

July 21st, 2009

Have you ever wanted to be a Volunteer? Put your experiences to use? Help someone else in need?

We have two volunteering opportunities at the NSF and we really need your help.

The aim of Phone Peer Support is to connect stroke survivors with

volunteering carers and stroke survivors over the phone to provide them with emotional and practical support.

strokesafeTM  is an education program where volunteers will provide the community with crucial knowledge to help them understand and remember the signs of stroke and how to prevent a stroke.

Training will be provided.

All you have to do is complete the volunteer application form

Click here for more info on the volunteering programs.
