Angelo Lekkas - young stroke survivor back kicking goals
Angelo Lekkas, Ambassador Angelo Lekkas is a young 29 year old and a star football player for Hawthorn. Angelo suffered a stroke during a practice match on February 28 in 2005 and was told he should retire from football. Scans showed 40% of Angelo's cerebellum, the part of the brain influencing coordination and balance, was affected. Angelo stunned doctors when he played an AFL game 121 days after his stroke. Angelo is also working hard at helping the National Stroke Foundation to raise funds, awareness and hope for other stroke survivors. The Board at the National Stroke Foundation have been so impressed with Angelo, that he was recently appointed an official ambassador.
