In 2007 the National Stroke Foundation continued to educate the general public about the signs of stroke, with a greater emphasis on stroke being a medical emergency and for people to call ‘000’ if they experience the signs of stroke or recognise them in someone else.
FAST is an easy way for everyone to recognise the signs of stroke: Facial weakness - can the person smile? Has their mouth or eye drooped? Arm weakness - can the person raise both arms? Speech difficulty - can the person speak clearly and understand what you say? Time to act fast - call 000 immediately The signs of a stroke are:
